The story behind our name Nine Dragons Seafood is the name chosen for the seafood product division of our company:  Nine Indochinese Dragons Co Ltd. The Dragon is an important mythical symbol in Vietnam. The Vietnamese are said to have descended from a dragon and a fairy. In 4000 BC, Lạc Long Quân, Dragon King of the Eastern Sea, married a fairy named Âu Cơ, the daughter of King Đế Lai. Âu Cơ bore 100  eggs from which 100 sons were born. Each of these sons became the forefather of one of the 100 ethnic groups that form the Vietnamese people of today. The Mekong River, springing from the foothills of the Himalaya, divides itself into nine arms (or nine dragons) before flowing into the sea. Hence the Vietnamese name for the Mekong Delta - Cửu Long (Nine Dragons). The Mekong Delta is the main zone of seafood production in Vietnam. We are looking into expanding our activities into Cambodia, which is why we have chosen to call our company Indochinese instead of Vietnamese.
